September 11, 2001 is a date that has been forever burned into our hearts and minds and souls. I remember vividly watching America change in an instant as the second plane crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. You also remember that day well, don’t you? Everything we took for granted crumbled before our eyes in those few moments.
Perhaps it was only a veil, the “American Way”… but it had long kept many fears and insecurities at bay. Suddenly it was torn away and the horror was impossible not to see and feel. It shook our country to its core, and in some ways we still have not recovered.
It is unfortunate how we have become a country divided. We criticize and condemn our leaders while we are unwilling to stand up and offer a better solution. Perhaps today we can take a moment to restore faith in humanity, and learn to give thanks for the many blessings we have.
Here is my blessing for you.
A time of reflection, hope and sorrow
Remembering 9/11, changed forever our tomorrow
Lives were lost, and dreams were crushed
Uncertainty remains where there once was trust
We carry on, numbing the pain
A smile appears but the ache remains
A healed heart will never forget
Resilience becomes our greatest asset
Living fully, loving deep
Peaceful living, restful sleep
Bravery and courage tone the soul
Leaving a legacy, a story told
America the beautiful, strong and great
Stand together before it’s too late
Reposted, September 11, 2017. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey in Houston and Irma throughout the Caribbean and Florida. Now, more than ever, I feel the abiding connection to the human spirit. Let’s continue this trend.
Over this past week, I was blessed to spend a week with Peter Turnley advancing my photography craft. He was one of very few photographers who were allowed inside the Ground Zero perimeter. Here is a remarkable story.
Much love to you today and everyday!
Feel deeply, forgive always…
