Before we get to a 3-step spring detox anyone can do…stop for a minute. Open a window. Do you smell that?
The familiar, uplifting, musty sweet scent of blossoms and dew wafting through the air?
Now wait, and listen…what do you hear? It sounds like birds chirping…
And look over there is that…a daffodil?
You’re not dreaming. It’s finally here…Spring has sprung. And if it’s still miserably cold where you are, it’s not far off!
No matter where you live chances are you’ve been THROUGH IT this winter.
You’re so done with the white stuff; snow storms, snow blowing, snowpocalypes (sorry Atlanta)—and ready to welcome spring in all its budding beauty.
There’s something about being cooped up all winter that, while cozy for a few months, can wear on the body, mind, and spirit.
Spring offers us the PERFECT time to open our eyes, dust out the brain cobwebs, and clear a path in our hearts for fresh experiences.
It’s time to get your spring detox/cleansing on!
Cleansing is like an instant makeover for your entire self.
It can help you lose weight, gain fresh perspective, overcome brain fog, increase energy, shed emotional baggage, make you more productive…and you’ll just plain feel better.
The idea that cleansing is only for vegans, celebrities, or health nuts is just plain outdated. It does not have to be isolating, uncomfortable, or time consuming.
Cleansing should be life changing, uplifting, inspiring, and even…dare I say…fun!
So, let’s get to it. Here are three ideas anyone can implement right now to help detox body, mind, and spirit.
For your body:
- Cleanse gently and effectively with spring’s best medicinal teas—naturally cleansing herbs like dandelion, nettles, and lamb’s quarters pop up like weeds this time of year. You may even find some in your yard.
You don’t even have to go out and buy a tincture. Just order some loose tea or herbs, or pick some up at your local health food store. Boil the kettle and enjoy a cuppa while cleansing your liver, blood, and digestive system.
- Bonus tip: Sweeten the deal and help keep allergies at bay with a drizzle of raw, local honey.
For your mind:
- Strengthen your mindfulness and intuition through meditation—this is the holy cow isn’t it? We may be willing to slow down a bit, have a cup of tea and cleanse our bodies, but our minds…that’s another story.
For a quick-read, head over to our freebie report on overcoming your meditation anxiety. This step-by-step guide will help you slow down and detox your mind in 5 minutes a day.
For your spirit:
- Unsubscribe to any reading material (emails, magazines, blogs, etc.) that drag you down, make you feel less than, or drain your soul—You know what I’m talking about.
Instead try reading 30 minutes a day of something uplifting, inspiring, de-cluttering, life changing.
We have many awesome book recommendations , but one of my recent faves is Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen, and the Tao of Leadership: Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching Adapted for a New Age.
Now take a deep cleansing breath in…and big exhale. By reading this post, you just took the first step in your spring cleansing program.
Don’t you feel lighter already?
What do you do to shed the winter excess and spring into action this time of year?
Make the space for new beginnings…
just for the health of it!
