Everyone knows men and women differ. It is a long standing debate regarding strengths and weaknesses of both sexes!
Just for fun, before we get into my blog post today, get a glass of water (because you should stay hydrated), and kick back and watch this comedic explanation of the differences of the male and female brain.
Wasn’t that great? Women need a nothing box! It is not easy having all those wires connecting to everything. I am surprised we are not walking around all the time with smoke coming out of our ears. It is exhausting isn’t it?
I guess I am talking to both women and the men. Over-thinking things can stress anyone out, regardless of gender. When I was in practice doing massage, I saw first hand the damage of stress on a body. The tension builds up over time and our soft pliable muscles become like steel beams. The body is resilient, but if it gets pushed too far it will break. Apparently, there is a new study out that reveals how our perception of stress causes more harm than stress itself. What will they think of next? Either way, we need a nothing box.
I believe the answer to a happy, peaceful life is finding your nothing box – at least for a little while, everyday. All of the answers to our concerns come from our quiet place, the wisdom within. Unfortunately, we often feel the need to fill every silent moment with speech, every quiet second with activity. If we do not allow ourselves to explore the nothing box, we cannot hear the whisper of reason, the beckoning of hope, the call of courage… Maybe you have hidden gifts to share. Worth exploring, isn’t it?
The nothing box is the solution. How do we obtain this fascinating nothing box? In my explorations for inner peace I have found some wonderful tools. Let me share them with you.
Meditation – This is really a simple exercise in quieting the mind. You cannot mess it up – you just have to keep practicing it. Sit quietly, let your breath flow naturally through your body, and do not force anything. Do not even force your thoughts out of your head, let your breath take them away. Gently allow everything to come to rest. Ahhhhhhhhhh……….. (Do you feel the nothing?)
Yoga – There are many styles and types of yoga, so find one that fits you. The yoga postures help to move and restore your energy, which helps to bring you into the moment – and into your nothing box.
Tapping techniques – Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT is the most well known tapping technique and it is very effective. I worked with an EFT practitioner for a while the great part about it is that you can learn to do this for yourself. The sequence is simple and it works.
Therapeutic massage – This is my favorite form of relaxation. Our bodies hold so much tension, because our muscles store memories as does our connective tissue. Massage should be required by law! Find a good therapist (you will know you have the right one when their hands heat up like a heating pad.) Come on, nothing box.
Flower essences – Edward Bach discovered the effective uses of certain flowers would bring about healing on the emotional realm. You can find Bach flower essences in your local health food store. My favorite flower essence remedy is Fields of Flowers from Energetix.
These are just a few ways to calm the mind and find inner peace. In my quest for more, I found that less was the answer. Look hard enough and you might find nothing too! Enjoy it, embrace it… it has many gifts for you.
Be still and know….
Just for the health of it!
